[Character name] Kaburagi Kaede
[Age] 11
[Canon] TIGER & BUNNY
[Point in time taken from canon] post-series
[Background]
wiki
[Personality]
A young girl of 11, Kaburagi Kaede is like most girls of her age going through her adolescent period. What sets her apart from most children though, is her family. The daughter of the veteran hero, Wild Tiger (Kaburagi Kotetsu), and the late Kaburagi Tomoe, she takes after her parents in both appearance and personality.
Many would say she is more like her mother, with her level-headedness. Kaede is a smart child, able to connect pieces and use her common sense when needed. Of course, she’s no genius, so there are many things she doesn’t know. However, she seems to be able to keep her head in emergency situations, such as evacuating immediately when told, rather than have a panic attack. And although she has her feminine moments, such as fangirling over a good looking man or liking cute things, she can be pretty frank. She’s straight-forward in her words, saying what she likes and dislikes bluntly at times. (Although only to people she really is close to.)
However, she takes after her father as well with her recklessness and bravery. For all her common sense, when she chooses to do something she spurts towards it without much thought of the dangers at times. Such as taking all her money to go to a huge city, Sternbild, by herself without telling anyone to save her father. Then have enough guts and bravery to escape when captured and defeat the man who was keeping watch all by herself. She’s a pretty active child.
And from both her parents, she inherited their sense of justice, strong will, and caring heart. She has the courage to say that someone is doing something wrong to their face and once she chooses to do something, Kaede does her best at it and doesn’t give up so easily. She acts what she believes is true rather than being distracted by the majority’s opinion. She also always knows how to find the best in a person and compliment it.
Still, she’s just a child that would rather eat sweets than listen to her father or go into a bad mood for losing her favorite plushie. She’s a huge fan of the handsome hero, Barnaby and her desk are filled with her pictures and there are posters of him in the room. She’s energetic and a friendly type of person, most likely social that keeps up with the trends. She dislikes being treated as a baby, and would rather be treated as her age (or older). And as a child, there are moments when she doesn’t understand “adult situations” nor is she too interested in them. As a tween of delicate age, she has attitude and a short temper, mostly directed to her father, and can say cold things at times. However, at times this is just her being too embarrassed to say what she really feels to someone so close, and she will apologize if she feels that she was at wrong. (Although most times her father screws up and makes her angry again right before she was about to apologize)
But Kaede is also a very independent and mature child. This is most likely because her mother had died when she was 4 years old, and ever since then she had been away from her father and living with her grandmother instead. This situation also is her root for her strong attachment to her family. Mature or not, she is still a child, and is always afraid of being left by herself. When she woke up to her grandmother on the floor, she panicked (despite not having panicked when iron beams almost fell on her at a different time) and overreacted to the situation. During that day, she wasn’t able to concentrate on her classes at all, and immediately after school, she ran to the shrine to pray for her grandmother not to be taken from her. Her relationship with her father, on the other hand, was very rocky since she wasn’t able to trust his promises on coming back home for vacation since he always broke it and how he treated her like a toddler. Combined with the whole adolescence thing, she would more often be yelling at her father rather than giving him smiles. However, her anger toward her father is a direct reflection of how lonely she felt, and how much she wanted to be with him all the time.
For all the yelling and the cold looks Kaede gives her father, she does care for him deeply, and even when she saw him on the TV as a wanted suspect, she trusted that he wasn’t someone who would kill a person. Never did she doubt him. After she finds his real job as a Hero, she becomes more understanding to his situation, and becomes his fan (although she doesn’t show it too much in front of him). In fact, Kaede was the one who pushed her father back into the hero business after his retirement. She did this most likely because she was sure that her father did love her for sure and that she didn’t have to fear the possibility that her father perhaps never came home because he didn’t want her.
Kaede is surely a girl that would probably grow up to a beautiful girl inside and out, with faults and good parts like most people. Anyone that comes to know her will quickly pick up that she is a child that was raised with love and she herself is a caring, strong girl.
[Abilities]
Kaede is a NEXT (people with superpowers) with the ability to copy the powers of others. However, she can only store one at a time. Also, just because she can copy the ability doesn’t mean she knows how to use it right off the bat. Most times she has minimal control over it and the most she can do is make sure it doesn’t go on a rampage. However, if she’s under pressure (like life being in danger) or if she isn’t consciously using it, she seems to be able to pull off using the abilities she copied at times.
She has higher than average athletic skills and most likely flexible (seeing she seems to be a good enough ice skater to go to a tournament). Also she’s a quick thinker that can adjust and act depending on their surroundings. She has lots of gut for a girl and child at that, and can be classified as reckless at times. But other than that she’s a normal human child.
[Other important stuff]
For the purposes of RP, I would like to make it that she has enough control over her NEXT that she can choose what she wants to copy, and can activate those powers on her own will (rather than it flaring up when she gets too emotional or something) and make her NEXT powers open for other supernatural abilities in the game as well. I don’t believe Kaede will go around copying powers solely for her purpose (unless it’s a very unharmful power) and for the non-NEXT powers she copies, she’ll most likely have an extra hard time controlling them so she would only be able to use like 30% of the powers she copied.
I’ll set up a permissions post to see if others are okay for the chance of Kaede copying people’s abilities. If this isn’t possible then I totally don’t mind going for plan B with her abilities!
plan B; She can only copy NEXT powers, but she’s on autocopy so if she bumps into anyone with NEXT powers she copies it even if she didn’t want to. At the moment, Somarium only has Hundred Powers, and even if future NEXT appears, they’re all powers that at least one of the character knows about.

I went to the shopping area for the first time today with my dad! And omg, it was amazing! O(≧▽≦)O There were just all sorts of stores with the cutest outfits and adorable accessories! Oriental Town never had this much choices, and I wasn’t able to go around Sternbild much... Both times I went I was all caught up in something else and there wasn’t any time to tour at all! (≧ヘ≦)
But anyway, I think the shopping district here has as much choices! It was just so much fun going around looking at all the nice things. Just window shopping is so much fun! A lot of the things were too pricey for me... But one day when I grow up I’ll work and earn money so I can buy the nice clothes I liked! p(*^-^*)q
Next time I want to go with a friend. Since my dad keeps saying that outfit is too old for me or that shirt shows too much skin! All he recs is lame looking ones... \(*`∧´)/
[ filtered away from Kotetsu ]
While shopping, I saw a nice looking shirt. I want to go buy it to surprise him, but he won’t let me go out alone! I’m not a baby!! ヽ(`⌒´メ)ノ So, I wanted to ask if someone could go with me to buy it. Oh, but keep it a secret okay?
[Third Person]
Although she knew they weren’t good manners, Kaede swung her legs while sitting on the chair, moving the spoon in her mouth up and down. She was alone at home after all, and there wasn’t anyone looking at her except maybe her mother in heaven. ...But her mother would turn a blind to a eye to this right? She wasn’t going to do it where people were around... She wondered if she should go for another scoop of ice cream, or check her Dreamberry for anything new. After a few minutes, she jumps off the chair and goes over to the kitchen sink, taking the small bowl that she had been using. Kaede had decided to check for new information instead.
After washing the dirty bowl and spoon, she walked over to the couch to sit and scroll through the posts when she noticed an unfamiliar object on the desk. It was small metallic ball, with a round red button on the top of it. Trying to think back if her father had brought this home last night, she reached for it to examine the object. It was smooth, and not as heavy as it looked. It screamed strange and suspicious, especially since she had no idea where it came. Deciding to ask her father when he came home on what this was, Kaede places it back on the desk. However, the it being a ball, it starts to roll off the edge.
Before it falls she manages to catch it, but at the same time she accidentally pushes the red button. Before she can react, a pop sound is made and white smoke that appears blocks her view. Coughing as she tries waves her hand to clear her vision, Kaede stands up to open the window. That’s when she notices something... ...well, something in her pants. Something, long, and medium length. Soft.... fuzzy...
“KYA!” She reaches behind and checks nothing is touching her bottom, before tentatively reaching in to touch the object. She gives it a small poke, and seeing that it doesn’t move, she yanks it ou- “Ow!” She stops mid-pull due to the sudden pain from her tailbone area. By now the smoke had cleared out and she can see what she is gripping in her hand.
…..A tail? Of a tiger...? …..........Connected to her?! Frozen in spot, Kaede opens her mouth and closes it several times, not knowing what to say. How? What? Why? ...Why? The ball! She grabs the ball that had fallen on the ground and presses the red button again in hopes of the tail disappearing. It does nothing instead though. Sighing loudly, she plops back on the couch with tail still in one hand. The first thing that comes to her mind is how to explain this to her father that should be due home in an hour or so.
[Why do you want to play this character in Somarium?] Somarium seems to be a good enough home for Kaede seeing that despite the challenges (and scary events) she might face, there are plenty of good guardian-type people for her? It seems like a great place to develop her more since it’s not too mundane but not too rough on her. (plus her dad and hero is in this place!)
[Which rule was your favorite and why?] The AC rules are really nice I love the various choices that are acceptable forms of activity. Not too lax but not too harsh.
